Specific industry related tours on offer are:
Pre Conference Tour: Sunday 16 May Scienic Rim Geotour with the Rock Doctor (see page 23 of the registration brochure)
Discover the geology of South East Queensland’s Scenic Rim with industry legend, Dr John Jackson. Your geotour with the ‘Rock Doctor’ will take you to magical Mount Barney that was located on a hot plume path and a monument to Australia docking with Asia 24 million years ago. Trace a path from the ancient ‘hot spot’ of molten mantle rock and melted basal crustal rock that etched a Scenic Rim in South East Queensland. View miraculous landscapes framed with picturesque views of the Maroon and Lindesay mountains and walk through the basement rocks beside Cedar Creek Falls to view columnar basalt from Australia’s largest shield volcano. Enjoy an exquisite lunch and learn to discern your vintages by their geological influences tasting some granite belt wines at the Heritage winery.
Cost and inclusions: $175 includes coach transfers, entry fees, morning tea, lunch and experienced geotour guide — Dr John Jackson.
