APPEA 2010 will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is a world-class venue over three levels, purpose-built to provide superb flexibility and versatility under one roof. The Centre offers a comprehensive range of fully integrated in-house services delivered by a team of experienced professionals whose commitment to excellence extends across all events.

Located conveniently within walking distance of the main CBD, the centre is located on Brisbane’s lush tropical parkland, Southbank with its array of modern shopping facilities and boardwalk café style living.

 
Credit Cards

Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, shops, restaurants and airlines. Commonly recognised cards include Visa, American Express, Mastercard and Diners Club. The only cards to be accepted at the Conference registration desk will be Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

 
Official Language

The official language of the Conference is English. No simultaneous interpretation is planned for this event.

 
Passport and Visa

All visitors are required to have a valid passport and may need an entry visa (please check with your travel agent). A visa can be applied for, and issued from, the Australian Government representatives in major cities throughout the world.

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre has a non-smoking policy throughout the entire venue.

 
Shopping

Generally Brisbane shops are open during the following hours:

  • Monday to Friday 9.00am-5.00pm
  • Friday 9.00am-9.00pm
  • Saturday 8.30am-4.00pm
    Shops in tourist areas (including CBD and Southbank) will be open on Sundays for limited trading hours

The weather in Brisbane is subtropical. The average temperature in May in Brisbane is 23.6 degrees celcius.

 
What to Wear

Smart casual clothes are suitable for the Welcome Reception and Farewell Cocktails.
Business attire / smart casual is the standard dress during the main conference daytime period.
For the 2010 APPEA Conference Dinner the dress will be black tie / lounge suit.
